Colophon

Set in three
typefaces.

Display and headlines are set in Fraunces, an open-source variable serif by Phaedra Charles, Flavia Zimbardi, and Jasper de Waard. Body copy is set in Newsreader, designed by Production Type for the Google Fonts catalogue. Code, data tables, and small caps use JetBrains Mono. All three are licensed under the SIL Open Font License and served from the Google Fonts CDN.

The page is laid out as plain HTML and CSS — no build step, no JavaScript, no framework. The colour palette is a warm cream with deep ink, an ageing-paper red used sparingly for emphasis, and a green felt accent we use only on individual variant chrome.

Acknowledgements

7s, 8s, and 9s as documented here is the version Jesse learned starting in 2024, from a group that has been playing it for years. The rules as written are his transcription; any errors are his alone. He is particularly indebted to the players who first explained the Piggy bust rule with the appropriate level of indignation.

The five player archetypes — High-Seeker, Low-Hoarder, Piggy-Hunter, Denialist, Adaptive — are Jesse's invented framework for studying the meta-game in simulation. They are not what the other regulars call themselves or each other; they exist as named vertices of a strategic geometry, useful for the project, not necessarily descriptive of any actual person at the table.
